Catalog - Rachel Rose

€29,80
This publication presents Rachel Rose's sister exhibitions at Lafayette Anticipations and at the Fridericianum in Kassel, Germany.
It provides a comprehensive insight into the artist's approach, exploring how we have described, explored and transformed our humanity over the past centuries while taking a visionary approach to our contemporary relationship to technology, nature and the finiteness of being.

The publication opens with an interview between Rachel Rose and Hans Ulrich Obrist, Artistic Director of Serpentine Galleries in London, who provides much background on the creative context of the works. Three texts then address several essential aspects of the artist's work. Wai Chee Dimock, professor of literature at Yale, provides a very precise analysis of the relationship to time and temporality in Rachel Rose's videos. Quinn Latimer, poet and art critic, then discusses the links that exist in the artist's work between the elements of narrative, the writings of the Brothers Grimm and the vastness of the universe. Finally, the philosopher Timothy Morton, famous for his work on ecology, explores several themes that structure the works on display, such as feminism, poststructuralism and quantum physics.

The catalogue also includes records and a large selection of images from Rachel Rose's films and works presented in the two exhibitions, as well as installation views.

Works presented: Wil-O-Wisp, Lake Valley, Everything and More, Sitting Feeding Sleeping, Autoscopic Egg, Borns
