The catalog, entirely supervised by Martin Margiela himself in collaboration with the great graphic designer Irma Boom and the editorial team of Lafayette Anticipations, details in 350 pages the entire process of creating the works in the exhibition. It alternates photos of the final works in the exhibition space with so-called "making of" images, taken by the artist himself throughout his work.
This book shows Martin Margiela's work of research and inspiration as well as his investment alongside the Foundation's teams who have carried out their most important project of production of works since the opening of the Foundation. Designed as a real workshop book, the catalog includes several surprises, as Martin Margiela has always known how to reserve for his audience. The texts make it possible to place the artist in his context and to better understand each aspect of his work. Chris Dercon recalls his training, his first works as well as his approach as an artist during his years as a fashion designer, Friedrich Meschede insists on the importance of serendipity in his approach, François Quintin focuses on several obsessions of Martin Margiela in the within her work and Rebecca Lamarche-Vadel traces the stages and objectives of this exhibition project.
